Matthew Perry’s heartbreaking dying words seem to have emerged.
The renowned Friends star was discovered dead in his Los Angeles home’s hot tub in October 2023. According to an autopsy performed by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office, the 54-year-old died from the “acute effects of ketamine”.
Perry, who suffered with alcohol and drug addiction, ordered his assistant to “shoot me up with a big one,” just before being discovered comatose in his hot tub. The chilling request to Kenneth Iwamasa has been disclosed in newly released court documents.
Five persons, including Perry’s live-in personal helper Iwamasa, have been charged in connection with his death. Eric Fleming, doctors March Chavez and Salvador Plasencia (known as “Dr P”), and Jasveen Sangha, also known as the “Ketamine Queen”.
Iwamasa, Chavez, and Fleming have pled guilty to giving the actor with the ketamine that killed him, but Plasencia and Sangha have pleaded not guilty and will face trial. As part of Iwamasa’s plea agreement, an in-depth timeline of Perry’s final month of life was provided.
According to court filings, the Chandler Bing actor was using ketamine six to eight times each day prior to his death. He allegedly used the medicine as an infusion therapy to treat his melancholy and anxiety.
Sangha allegedly sold ketamine to Perry’s acquaintance Fleming, who then sold it to his helper. Chavez, who ran a ketamine clinic, sold Plasencia ketamine obtained via a false prescription.
According to court documents, Perry allegedly received ketamine shots from Iwamasa at approximately 8.30 a.m. and again at 12.45 p.m. on the day he died. The records also state that the actor was found unconscious at his house twice before his death.
According to the records, Perry asked Iwamasa to buy ketamine for him in September of last year because he wanted to address his depression with it. Dr. Plasencia contacted his associate Chavez, who agreed to supply the necessary ketamine.
Plasencia allegedly gave Perry two injections before training Iwamasa how to administer them. In early October, Iwamasa informed Plasencia that their supply was running low and that they needed more; Plasencia went to Perry’s house and sold him one or more vials.
Perry’s aide reportedly saw Plasencia at least seven times between September 30 and October 28. It is claimed that Iwamasa turned over at least $55,000 (£42492) of Perry’s money, with authorities accusing the accused of manipulating his drug addiction.
Three days prior to Perry’s murder, Iwamasa allegedly requested another batch of 25 ketamine vials from Fleming. Iwamasa provided at least six ketamine shots to Perry.
The next day, on October 26, Iwamasa allegedly administered Perry at least six ketamine doses. According to the Justice Department, Fleming distributed 50 vials of ketamine supplied by Sangha to Iwamasa.
Iwamasa saw Perry sleeping face down in his hot tub after getting home after running errands. Perry was pronounced dead at the site by paramedics, who arrived within minutes.
Martin Estrada, the United States Attorney for the Central District of California, told a news conference that the defendants in this case were aware that what they were doing was wrong. They were aware that what they were doing put Mr. Perry in grave danger, but they went forward with it nevertheless.
“In the end, these defendants were more interested in profiting off Mr. Perry than caring for his well-being.” Chavez and Plasencia allegedly discussed how much they would charge the actor, stating, “I wonder how much this moron will pay.”
