Los Angeles may have good intentions to keep him for one more year on his rookie contract, but it may be best to move on and trade him for anything in exchange. Atwell hasn’t found his footing in the Rams scheme to match Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp’s performances, but he’s still a reliable receiver on any club that requires one.
He hasn’t been able to be a vital weapon like them in the aerial attack, so if the Rams change their minds, he could be an excellent trade candidate. Atwell’s speed has been obviously beneficial to the offense, so it’s no surprise that the Rams are keeping him around in case they want to offer him a contract extension. However, it could be troublesome for the Rams’ pay cap because they will eventually need to extend Nacua and Kupp. However, he hasn’t had many opportunities, therefore it may be prudent for him to move on in order to gain more exposure.
The Chiefs are one club in need of a receiver because Marquise Brown is out due to an injury, and Atwell is a size replica of Brown, so he can play both ends. However, the Ravens have two reliable receivers in Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman, but they require a long-term No. 3 receiver to assist Nelson Agholor.

Carolina Panthers
Bryce Young had one of the worst rookie seasons, but the Panthers have worked hard this offseason to assemble a solid supporting cast for him. The squad was able to trade for Diontae Johnson and pick Xavier Legette; in the meantime, Adam Thielen is showing no signs of slowing down, despite his age. These guys will help him secure a postseason wild card, but they may still use Atwell in the same room. Atwell would benefit Thielen because he will most likely be a slot receiver while Legette focuses on the deep threat.
Jonathan Mingo has been unimpressive, and Terrance Marshall is expected to change uniforms before the trade deadline, so Atwell makes sense. He adds a proven option to the offense, which is lacking weapons behind Thielen and Johnson. Atwell is a smaller version of Thielen, which will help the offense move more quickly.

The Chargers are desperate to sign a proven playmaker after losing Mike Williams and Keenan Allen. Behind Lamb are only Brandin Cooks and a slew of inexperienced wideouts, so it will be years before this offense can find a pair of receivers to aid Dak Prescott. However, they might make a cheap deal to bring in Atwell to help Jalen Tolbert develop into a consistent slot playmaker over the next few years.
