According to NBA reporter Anthony Slater of The Athletic, Stephen Curry attempted to recruit Paul George for the Golden State Warriors.
George was willing to play for the Warriors.
However, Golden State did not trade Brandin Podziemski or Jonathan Kuminga to the Los Angeles Clippers for George.
After trade talks between the Warriors and Clippers fell through, George declined his 2024-25 player option with LAC and signed with the Philadelphia 76ers.
“Curry was involved in the recruitment of George,” Slater stated. “Mike Dunleavy keeps him updated on the possibilities and final personnel decisions. Curry has not shown signs of concern or unrest, according to team insiders. However, in the following months, he will have to choose between action and inaction, which will reveal more about his long-term outlook.
“Curry is eligible for a one-year, $62.6 million extension on his deal, which has two seasons and $115.3 million remaining. He flew back from Paris a few days ago and intends to disconnect from basketball-related activities for a few weeks. According to league sources, no contract negotiations are scheduled to take place in the near future. It will totally follow Curry’s desired timeline. The deadline for extending is Oct. 21.
