Despite having Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal, and Devin Booker on their roster, the Phoenix Suns fell short of their lofty expectations last season. This has sparked suspicions of a possible separation due to their tricky cap position, but the Phoenix Suns front management has repeatedly stated that this is not the case.
Phoenix Suns CEO Josh Bartelstein is the latest to speak out on the topic, stating that Kevin Durant, in particular, remains dedicated to their project since he “loves it” there.
“So I chat to KD all the time about his life, about the Olympics, and we often have FaceTime audios in Easton Paris, and it’s the coolest thing for me to talk to Kevin Durant about basketball. “Again, I pinch myself,” Bartelstein said on the PHNX Suns podcast.
“But I believe everyone’s heads are in the right place. He enjoys it here. We talk to Rich Kleiman, his partner, all the time about the vision and what we’re building, and everyone is extremely happy, and I believe we’ll have a really wonderful year,” he said.
How long will Kevin Durant stay with the Phoenix Suns?
Kevin Durant has two years left on his four-year, $194.2 million contract, which he signed while still with the Brooklyn Nets in 2023. The four-time Olympic gold champion will earn around $51 million in 2024-25 and $54 million in 2025-26 before becoming an unrestricted free agency in the summer of 2026.
The Phoenix Suns star discussed retiring during the 2024 Olympics because he isn’t getting any younger. By the time he becomes an unrestricted free agent again, he will be 38.
If Durant decides to continue playing, he can sign a one-year, $59.7 million contract extension with the Phoenix Suns.
