The Golden State Warriors remain a splash trade away from emerging as a true contender in Western Conference.

NBA Trade Rumors: The Golden State Warriors believe they are in an excellent position to upgrade their squad through trades as the NBA season begins.

In an ideal world, the Golden State Warriors would have been able to complete their pursuits by trading for Lauri Markkanen. In the end, the Utah Jazz may not have been serious about selling Markkanen, and the Warriors may not have been delighted with the prospect of emptying their squad for a guy who may not even assist lift the team to Western Conference contender status.

Nonetheless, after the transaction fell through, the Warriors could be described as a mediocre squad. They don’t have a good enough roster to compete for a championship in the West, but they’re also not awful enough to land a top lottery pick in the highly anticipated 2025 NBA lottery class.

But all is not lost for the Warriors, at least not in their eyes. As the NBA offseason comes to a close, the Warriors allegedly believe they are still in a solid position to strengthen their squad through trades in the coming months.

It remains to be seen whether Golden State will be able to discover the perfect trade target, but they still appear to be optimistic that the proper move is out there for them and, perhaps most crucially, that they will be able to execute it.

What other stars could the Golden State Warriors pivot to?

It’s difficult to forecast which types of players the Warriors may pursue after missing out on Markkanen, but a group of “available” players on the trade market does exist. Zach LaVine, Brandon Ingram, DeAndre Hunter, Bruce Brown, Kyle Kuzma, Jordan Clarkson, and Jerami Grant are all potential trade targets for the right price.

Would the Warriors want to pivot to any of those names at this time? It would be unusual if they did. If I had to predict, Golden State would likely wait until the NBA Trade Deadline season to watch how the rest of the trade market unfolds. If the Warriors are still unable to make a transaction, it may be time to start the Steph Curry trade watch.
