According to a recent rumor, Ipswich Town are likely to add to their squad again this summer after agreeing to another contract.
The Tractor Boys had to wait no longer, as they began their Premier League campaign on Saturday against Liverpool at Portman Road. Kieran McKenna’s side suffered a 2-0 defeat, but Ipswich will know that their hopes of remaining in the top flight are not dependent on how well they perform against the ‘big six’.
McKenna’s side has another challenging assignment this weekend when they travel to the Etihad to face Manchester City in their first away game of the season.
Ipswich Town transfer news
Since Ipswich’s elevation to the Premier League, the club has been tremendously active building their team. The club has had a very active few months, with McKenna receiving a lot of support in the market to make the required squad adjustments.
At the moment, the Tractor Boys have signed nine new players, including Jacob Greaves and Liam Delap from Hull City and Manchester City, respectively. They have also brought Omari Hutchinson back to the club, this time on a permanent basis, as well as Kalvin Phillips on loan and the Championship’s top striker, Sammie Szmodics, in recent days.
McKenna has been eager to strengthen all areas of the pitch for his Ipswich side, and they now have some extremely interesting alternatives at both ends of the pitch. However, they may not stop there, as it was claimed on Tuesday that Ipswich are interested in Burnley defender Dara O’Shea.
According to writer Alan Nixon, as reported by The 72, Ipswich are interested in recruiting the defender in a move of £10 million. The Tractor Boys will face competition from Premier League side Brentford, who have also expressed an interest, although McKenna appears to be eager to improve his backline even further.
O’Shea is reported to be willing to be patient with his next move, but doing so risks Ipswich and McKenna moving on to other defensive targets. However, in addition to potentially improving his backline, Ipswich may be looking to enhance their front line as well.
Ipswich agree Armando Broja deal
According to respected writer Stuart Watson, as conveyed by Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, Ipswich have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign striker Armando Broja.
The deal is claimed to be subject to a medical, but if everything goes well, Broja will join the Tractor Boys on a season-long loan, with Ipswich obligated to buy at the conclusion of the season. According to Fabrizio Romano, Ipswich’s duty to buy Broja is a necessary buy clause if they avoid relegation to the Championship, and the deal is worth more than £30 million.

The 22-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Premier League club Fulham, but the move did not go so well. The striker appeared eight times for the team in the top level but did not score, contributing only one assist. Broja had previously received high reviews, with The Athletic’s Jacob Tanswell describing him as a “animal”.
