Mike Panasiuk, a former Michigan State defensive lineman, has signed with the Indianapolis Colts, several reports said Sunday evening. MLFootball on X (previously Twitter) initially reported the signing.
Panasiuk, a four-year letterwinner on the Spartans’ defensive line, recently started all ten regular-season games at center for the St. Louis Battlehawks of the United Football League. Following his excellent 2024 season, the Roselle, Ill. native was awarded to the inaugural First-Team All-UFL offense.
Panasiuk won First-Team All-XFL offense honors in 2022 while playing for St. Louis in the XFL, prior to the merger of the USFL and XFL. He was also invited to a minicamp tryout with the Steelers.
Panasiuk, who went undrafted in 2020, signed as an undrafted free agent with the Las Vegas Raiders. Panasiuk’s time in Las Vegas was brief, as he was released by the Raiders before the 2020 NFL season. Panasiuk then signed with the Carolina Panthers and spent the season on their practice squad.
Panasiuk spent his first season in the NFL moving from defensive lineman to offensive line, where he started working out at center. Despite the position swap, the former Spartan did not make the 2021 Panthers’ 53-man roster in his second season.
The former 247Sports four-star prospect played in 51 games at Michigan State, recording 100 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, four sacks, two interceptions, six passes defended, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
Panasiuk also received three All-Big Ten Honorable Mentions, an All-Big Ten Freshman Team honorable mention in 2016, and Second-Team All-Big Ten as a junior in 2018, according to Pro Football Focus.
